Background

Robert Ryan began his career in industrial supply and distribution at McMaster-Carr before moving into business ownership. In 2018, he became the owner and CEO of Birdview Skylights, a Fort Worth, Texas-based company supplying high-quality skylights for both commercial and residential buildings.

His experience acquiring and successfully operating a business gives him a practical, owner’s perspective on industrial supply and building products opportunities, with a strong understanding of what it takes to evaluate, acquire, and grow a company.

Why American Operator

Robert has built his own business around helping legacy manufacturers change hands without losing what made them work, and he sees that same responsibility in American Operator's mission to keep good businesses locally owned. He joined the advisor bench to help other buyers navigate the acquisition and transition decisions he has made himself, from structuring a deal to keeping key people in place after close. He is especially engaged on wholesale building, industrial supply, and construction opportunities, where his own operating experience runs deepest.
